Working within the paradigms of fashion language, Alison Pyrke plays with the margins of fashion genres and categories.
Alison’s honours practice-based research project focused on the area of footwear. The outcomes of this project integrated the divisions of ‘garment’ and ‘shoe’, whilst enhancing the performative qualities of walking, understanding that the appendage of the shoe catalyses the movement of the body as a whole. Taking this idea and enhancing the implied comical notions of uncommon walking styles, this project was manifested through a series of looks, films, photography and ultimately presented in the down ‘n’ dirty fashion event, Hollywood 7, at the Parkville motel.
Alison Pyrke completed the Bachelor of Fashion (Design)(Honours) at RMIT University in 2016.
