Elizabeth Hutchinson finds interest in the way we’re swayed to desire something just because it’s considered fashionable.
In her graduate collection Best Before, Elizabeth explores the notion of a trend – how they are introduced, catch on and evolve throughout their now short lived lifespans. The collection looks to reconfigure identifiable elements of once sought after fashions and present them in a way that will make us question what makes a trend desirable. Each piece takes the form of a literal collaging together of iconic moments throughout the 20th century with an outcome that will ultimately conclude whether the recontextualisation of fashions can make us once again enjoy what we currently consider out of date.
Elizabeth Hutchinson completed the Bachelor of Fashion (Design)(Honours) at RMIT University in 2016.
